Before we begin interviews on current day winter maintenance practices and technology, I thought it would be interesting to take a historical look at winter maintenance and some of the changes that have occurred over the years.

To learn about winter maintenance 40 years ago, I spoke with Gordon Bell, a retired veteran of the Colorado Department of Transportation. Gordon discusses the equipment and practices used in the early 1960s as compared to today.
